Edwin & Harold were professional & very congenial. My problem was addressed the same day as my scheduled appointment.
Knowledgeable, good service , great customer service from booking with Amanda all the way to having the technicians in my home
Excellent customer service! Took the care and time to patiently explain everything and listen to my needs and concerns and offered multiple options to consider at my own pace.
Edwin and Harold did a great job and explained everything that they needed to fix. Peace of mind is so important with electrical work.
Prompt service, no B.S. Honest people doing honest work, and always very polite and personable. Completely satisfied with their service.
Had Erwin and Harold out for a second time to do more work in our home we are renovating. I have no complaints about this company, they are honest and give plenty of options to work with your budget. Respectful, understanding and very thorough explanation of their work. Highly recommend you get a quote from them before paying double to the larger companies!
Edwin was very informative and respectful. Quick and effective work. Very thorough and good at his job. He discovered that every outlet that was worked on previously by a unlicensed handyman were done incorrectly. My home could have burned down, thankfully i caled a professional. I would recommend him everytime
Erwin did a great job on the lights in are den he was here when he said he would and gave a far price for what he did.
Erwin did an awesome job! Super professional, on time, and really knows what he’s doing. Everything came out great, and he made sure it was done right. Erwin and Harold were absolutely fantastic. Courteous and clean service. Very professional. Advised me on what was needed to bring my kitchen oven up to code and accomplished my installation quickly and same day. Estimate was equal to what I paid. Very honest workers and professional experience. 10/10! Will be calling them for everything in the future for electric. Amanda, the lady who I scheduled the appointment with was also friendly and professional and answered all my questions. Overall a fantastic company, I couldn't speak highly enough of them!
The team was wonderful. They went above and beyond to make sure that I was satisfied, even offering to help me with a few loose ends on other projects. They truly came through for us. This wasn’t an easy project—our entire parking lot was without lighting—but their team handled it quickly, safely, and professionally. They diagnosed the issue, coordinated the work, and had everything fully operational in just two visits. We’re grateful for their efficiency and expertise.
The electricians(Erwin Harold and their crew) did a wonderful job. Erwin explained step by step in details on the things they were going to work on before they did the job. They accommodated everyone in the household especially our autistic son. With all the cosmetic work that had to be done, in the end,it looked like no damage to the house was even done. Thanks to them now we have permanent power instead of partial power. We will definitely recommend them to everyone.
Erwin and Harold from Edinson Electrical Solutions visited us to work on the dishwasher, the circuit breaker panel, outlets and possible installation of a new outlet box in the basement. Erwin was very thorough. He went through all the requirements of what needed to be done and provided options for us to pick. We wound up putting in a new outlet box for the dishwasher (which he diagnosed as needing replacement). He installed a new whole house surge protector at the circuit breaker panel. He fixed a few of the troublesome outlets. We decided not to install the outlet box in the basement at this time. What was impressive was the time he spent explaining the pros and cons of what needed to be done. I appreciated the explanations. They did an outstanding job for us and not was reasonable for the work that was performed.
Erwin and team were great! Provided multiple options for our project so we could decide what works best. It was a large project, upgrading 2 panels, removed 1 meter and went to 200 amps. Communication was great throughout and he made us a priority. We used Edinson for a previous project as well, we will continue to use them and would highly recommend them for a small or large project.

Juan and his crew were very professional, clean and respectful of our home. They fixed a ceiling fan and installed all new smoke alarm / carbon monoxide detectors, efficiently throughout the house.
We recently purchased our forever home and spent hours searching for a highly reputable electrician to help us with a large project. Erwin is the epitome of professional; he came for the estimate and talked us through every viable option to make major upgrades to our VERY outdated knob and tube electrical system. He was very receptive to our input and made us feel like we put a plan together as a team. His dedication to his clients is very apparent as he followed through with all the work he said he would do within the timeframe he provided; not only that, but he went above and beyond to ensure that we were left feeling safe and secure before he wrapped things up. He completely alleviated all our initial concerns by the time the project was done and has remained in contact to make sure everything has continued running smoothly. It’s rare to find someone that genuinely cares about others in the capacity that he does with the skills to boot. Don’t just take my word for it; give him a call and I guarantee that you will have him on standby for all your current and/or future needs. Keep up the great work!!!

I’m very impressed with Edinson Co, specifically having worked with Erwin to estimate and assess an older century house’s electrical system. The process was smooth, thorough and actually enjoyable. Erwin is a down to earth guy and will have no problem keeping you aware of what needs to be done work wise, albeit very kind, funny and friendly to talk with. Never once did I feel pressured or unsure about any of his work. The process was simple enough to any homeowner; going off a general inspection and digging even deeper into whatever pops up on the report is exactly what Erwin did. His report was thoroughly informative after taking time checking for GFI circuitry and for k&t. If you have an older house and are interested in finding out what kind of projects you might encounter, Erwin definitely will shed some light on the situation. I am so grateful Erwin was referred to me, being that finding an honest and dedicated electrician is golden nowadays. Thank you so much Erwin!
Erwin arrived on time. The problem was fixed. Very professional. I would call them again

COMPLETED SERVICE CALLS
Pool Wiring Service
Pool wiring service begins with understanding that pool installations have their own dedicated section of the National Electrical Code, Article 680, which contains requirements that go significantly beyond standard residential electrical work. The requirements reflect the obvious hazards of combining electricity with the large water volumes and human contact involved in pool use. Every aspect of pool wiring from circuit sizing through bonding networks must meet these specific requirements. We approach pool wiring with the focused attention these installations require. Edinson Electrical brings the experience to handle pool wiring correctly throughout every step of the installation.
Pool pump circuits are the most common pool electrical installation, with the pump providing essential water circulation and filtration. Most residential pool pumps operate on 240-volt dedicated circuits, with amperage sized based on the specific pump motor. Single-speed pumps typically draw 8 to 15 amps depending on motor horsepower. Variable-speed pumps draw similar amperage at high speed but much less at lower speeds, providing significant energy savings during normal operation. GFCI protection is required on all pool pump circuits regardless of pump voltage or amperage. We install pool pump circuits with the proper conductors, breakers, GFCI protection, and disconnects.
Pool heater circuits depend on the heater type. Gas heaters typically use small 120-volt circuits for ignition and control circuits, often just 15 or 20 amps. Heat pumps and electric heaters require substantial 240-volt circuits, sometimes 30 to 50 amps depending on heater size. Salt chlorine generators add their own circuit requirements, typically 240-volt circuits at modest amperage. We size each circuit based on the specific equipment’s electrical data plate, with GFCI protection on circuits requiring it under current code. Multiple equipment circuits often share a common subpanel located near the pool equipment pad.
Equipotential bonding is the most critical safety feature of pool electrical installation. The bonding grid connects all metal components within five feet of the pool to a common reference point through 8-gauge solid copper conductors. Bonding includes metal pool structure, reinforcing steel in concrete decks, metal handrails and ladders, metal forms, light fixture niches, and metal equipment. The bonding grid prevents voltage differences between metal components that could create shock hazards during fault conditions. We install bonding networks that meet every code requirement and document the installation for inspection purposes.
Pool lighting installations involve specific code requirements that protect against shock hazards from underwater fixtures. Underwater pool lights typically use 12-volt power supplied by transformers rather than the 120-volt power used for above-water fixtures. Low-voltage lighting reduces shock hazards in the water environment. Junction boxes serving pool lighting must be specifically rated for the application, with deck boxes elevated above the water level by code-specified distances. Conduit serving underwater lighting follows specific routing requirements that prevent water entry. We install pool lighting with attention to all these specific requirements.
Pool equipment locations near the pool itself have specific clearance requirements that protect equipment and users. Electrical equipment including subpanels, disconnects, and timers must be located at specified minimum distances from the pool water. The clearances prevent reaching from the pool to electrical equipment, which could create shock hazards if equipment has any internal problems. Receptacles within 20 feet of pools require GFCI protection, and the receptacles themselves have specific minimum distance requirements from the water. We work with customers and pool contractors to find equipment locations that meet code while remaining practical for service access.
Above-ground pool installations have different requirements than in-ground pools, though they still require attention to the specific code provisions for pools. Above-ground pool equipment locations, bonding requirements, and circuit installation all follow Article 680 with modifications appropriate to the above-ground installation type. Some above-ground pools have less extensive bonding requirements because of the different structural configuration. We handle both in-ground and above-ground pool electrical work with attention to the specific requirements of each.
Inspection coordination completes every pool wiring project we perform. Pool electrical inspections often involve specific verification of bonding installation, which can be difficult to verify after concrete decks or pavers cover the bonding components. We photograph bonding installations during construction and provide documentation that demonstrates code compliance even when components are no longer visible. The inspector verifies conductor sizing, breaker selection, GFCI protection, disconnect placement, equipment clearances, and overall workmanship. Edinson Electrical coordinates inspections proactively and provides documentation that supports successful inspection. Allentown customers benefit from pool installations that meet code, perform reliably, and provide the safety protections that make pool ownership enjoyable rather than worrisome.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Pool Wiring in Allentown
Hiring a licensed electrician for pool wiring in Allentown is absolutely essential because pool electrical work involves the most stringent safety requirements in residential electrical code. The combination of electricity and water creates lethal shock hazards when installations are not done correctly. Licensed electricians understand Article 680 requirements including bonding networks, GFCI protection, equipment clearances, and specialized fixture requirements that DIY work routinely gets wrong. Pennsylvania law requires licensing for electrical work, and pool electrical work is subject to particularly careful inspection. Insurance considerations are critical for pool owners because pool-related injuries can result in significant liability claims, and unlicensed electrical work can compromise homeowners insurance coverage. Pool injuries from electrical faults have caused fatalities, and the consequences of poor installation can extend well beyond property damage. Permits cannot be pulled by unlicensed individuals, and pool inspections fail when work has been performed without proper credentials. Edinson Electrical is fully licensed and insured in the State of Pennsylvania with extensive pool wiring experience. Our lifetime craftsmanship warranty backs every installation we complete, and we provide the documentation customers need for pool inspections and insurance coverage. Quality pool wiring installed by licensed professionals is the foundation of safe pool ownership.

Commonly Asked Pool Wiring Questions
Pool electrical work involves specialized requirements that pool owners typically need help understanding. The questions below cover what customers across Allentown most often ask before scheduling pool wiring services.
Pool wiring costs depend significantly on the pool size, the equipment to be served, and the complexity of the installation. A basic in-ground pool wiring project including pump circuit, heater circuit, underwater lighting, equipment bonding, and disconnects falls within a meaningful price range that reflects the substantial scope of work involved. Larger pools with multiple pumps, gas heaters, salt systems, automatic covers, and extensive lighting cost more because of the additional circuits and equipment.
Several factors affect pool wiring pricing significantly. Bonding installation is one of the most labor-intensive aspects of pool electrical work because the bonding network typically extends throughout the pool deck area. Conduit runs from the main panel to the pool equipment location add to project cost based on distance and routing. Service capacity often needs upgrade to support pool electrical demand alongside existing house loads, which adds substantial cost when service work is required. Permit fees vary by township but are typically modest relative to total project cost.
Pool electrical work is typically part of broader pool installation projects involving general contractors, pool builders, plumbers, and concrete contractors. We coordinate with these trades to ensure the electrical work fits properly into the overall project schedule. The bonding work needs to happen at specific construction stages so the bonding grid can be installed correctly before concrete is poured. Edinson Electrical provides detailed written estimates that itemize all costs clearly and coordinate with overall pool project timing. Financing through Synchrony helps make pool electrical installation manageable as part of overall pool ownership costs. Allentown customers value the transparent pricing and coordination that supports successful pool projects.
Pool wiring timelines vary based on project scope and how the electrical work fits into the overall pool construction schedule. Basic pool electrical installation for a typical in-ground pool with standard equipment takes two to four days of actual electrical labor. The work happens in phases coordinated with overall pool construction including initial circuit installation, bonding network installation before concrete pour, equipment connection after pool plumbing, and final connections after pool finishing.
Bonding installation timing is particularly important because the bonding grid must be in place before concrete decking is poured. Once concrete covers the bonding components, verification becomes difficult and corrections become very expensive. We coordinate with pool builders and concrete contractors to ensure bonding installation happens at the right stage. The bonding grid extension to the pool deck reinforcement and to any metal components in the deck area requires careful planning during the pool construction process.
Inspection requirements affect overall timeline because pool electrical work often requires multiple inspections at different construction phases. A rough inspection typically happens after the bonding installation is complete but before concrete is poured. Equipment connection inspections happen as the pool equipment is connected. Final inspection happens when all electrical work is complete and ready for use. The pool cannot be operated legally until inspections pass. Edinson Electrical coordinates inspections proactively throughout the project. Allentown customers value the efficient project completion that supports overall pool project success.
Pool bonding is the code-required practice of connecting all metal components in and around a pool to a common electrical reference point. The bonding network includes metal pool structure or reinforcing steel, metal handrails and ladders, light fixture niches, metal forms, gas piping, and any metal within five feet of the pool water. The connections use 8-gauge solid copper conductors with approved clamps. The bonding network is one of the most critical safety features of any pool installation.
The purpose of bonding is to prevent voltage differences between metal components that could create shock hazards. Without bonding, different metal components near the pool could develop different electrical potentials during fault conditions or from stray voltages from nearby electrical systems. Someone touching two components at different potentials could complete a circuit through their body, receiving shocks that might not trigger normal GFCI protection. Pool bonding eliminates these voltage differences by connecting all metal to the same reference point.
Equipotential bonding specifically refers to the bonding grid in the pool deck area, typically connected through the reinforcing steel in concrete decks. The equipotential bonding ensures that the deck area, the pool water, and metal components are all at the same electrical potential, preventing voltage differences from developing across the area where people walk and contact the pool. This requirement is unique to pool installations and reflects the specific hazards of the pool environment. Edinson Electrical installs bonding networks that meet every code requirement. Allentown pool owners benefit from comprehensive safety features that protect against the specific hazards of pool environments.
Current National Electrical Code requires GFCI protection on all pool pump circuits regardless of voltage. The requirement applies to 120-volt pumps, 240-volt pumps, and all amperage ratings. GFCI protection senses small current imbalances that indicate current flowing through an unintended path, including paths through pool water or through someone touching pool components. The GFCI trips within milliseconds when imbalances are detected, interrupting power before serious shock can occur.
The GFCI protection can be provided by GFCI breakers at the panel or by GFCI receptacles for plug-in pump installations. GFCI breakers serving pool pumps must be rated for the specific amperage and panel type. Spa-rated GFCI devices with higher amperage ratings serve larger pool equipment loads that exceed standard residential GFCI capacities. We install GFCI protection that matches the specific equipment and meets current code requirements.
Some older pool installations predate current GFCI requirements and may have pumps connected without GFCI protection. These installations should be upgraded to current GFCI requirements both for safety and code compliance. The retrofit involves installing GFCI breakers at the panel or adding GFCI devices in the circuit serving the pump. The cost of GFCI retrofit is modest compared to the safety benefit, particularly given the documented history of pool-related electrical injuries. Edinson Electrical helps Allentown pool owners understand current GFCI requirements and upgrade older installations to current safety standards. The protection makes the substantial difference between safe pool use and potential serious injury.
Pool equipment location follows specific code requirements that protect users while remaining practical for equipment service. Pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, and the electrical subpanel must be located at minimum distances from the pool water. The specific distances vary by equipment type and code edition, but generally a minimum of five to ten feet from the inside walls of the pool applies to most equipment. Greater distances are preferred when site conditions allow.
Several factors affect specific equipment placement decisions. The equipment must be accessible for service and maintenance, which means leaving clearance around equipment for technicians to work safely. Some equipment generates noise during operation, making placement away from neighboring homes and outdoor living areas important. Equipment placement should consider winter access for pool closing and any cold-weather maintenance. The pool equipment pad is typically a concrete pad sized to accommodate all equipment with proper spacing.
Subpanel placement near pool equipment provides convenient power distribution for all the pool-related circuits. The subpanel must be located at appropriate distances from the pool water and at appropriate heights for accessibility. Weather protection requirements typically call for NEMA 3R or NEMA 4 enclosures suitable for outdoor exposure. The subpanel feeds the various equipment circuits including pumps, heaters, lighting, and any additional features. We coordinate equipment placement with pool builders and customers during planning. Edinson Electrical handles pool equipment electrical service with attention to both code requirements and practical functionality.
Older pool electrical installations can typically be updated to current code, though the scope of work depends on what is already in place and what needs to change. Some pools installed decades ago have wiring that lacks current GFCI protection, modern bonding requirements, or other features that have been added to code over time. Retrofitting current code requirements to older pools provides significant safety improvements at reasonable cost.
GFCI upgrade is one of the most common pool electrical retrofits. Older pool installations sometimes have pump circuits without GFCI protection, which is no longer acceptable under current code. Adding GFCI protection involves replacing the breaker serving the pump or adding GFCI devices in the circuit. The retrofit is straightforward and significantly improves safety. Multiple equipment circuits can sometimes be upgraded during the same service visit.
Bonding upgrades for older pools are more challenging because the bonding network is typically embedded in concrete decking and pool structure. When existing bonding is incomplete or missing, supplemental bonding can sometimes be added to address specific deficiencies. The supplemental bonding connects accessible metal components to the existing system or to new bonding electrodes. Complete bonding retrofit requiring deck removal is rarely practical, but targeted improvements often address specific safety concerns. Edinson Electrical evaluates older pool electrical systems and recommends specific upgrades based on actual conditions. Allentown pool owners benefit from realistic recommendations that improve safety without requiring complete reconstruction.
Pool wiring requires permits in every jurisdiction across the Lehigh Valley because the work involves significant electrical infrastructure with substantial safety implications. The electrical permit is typically pulled as part of overall pool construction permits, with the electrical work being one component of the broader pool installation. We pull electrical permits as part of every pool wiring project we perform.
The inspection process for pool electrical work typically includes multiple inspections at different construction phases. Bonding inspection happens after the bonding network is installed but before concrete decks cover the components. Rough inspection covers conductor sizing, panel work, and equipment circuit installation. Equipment inspection happens as pool equipment is connected. Final inspection covers all completed electrical work and verifies the installation is ready for use. The pool cannot be filled and operated legally until inspections pass.
Pool electrical inspections are typically more rigorous than standard residential electrical inspections because of the specific safety concerns. Inspectors verify bonding connections, GFCI protection, equipment clearances, conductor sizing, and overall workmanship with particular care. We coordinate inspections proactively and prepare for them by ensuring all work is complete and properly documented. Edinson Electrical maintains good working relationships with inspectors throughout the region because consistent code-compliant pool work earns their trust. Allentown customers benefit from this experience because pool inspections rarely delay our projects. Proper documentation supports the pool installation through years of use and any future transactions.
Above-ground pools and in-ground pools both require attention to Article 680 requirements, though some specific provisions differ between the two pool types. Both require GFCI protection on pump circuits, dedicated circuits sized for the specific equipment, and bonding of metal components. The basic safety principles apply equally to both pool types because the fundamental hazards of mixing electricity and water are the same.
Bonding requirements differ somewhat between in-ground and above-ground pools because of structural differences. In-ground pools typically have extensive bonding networks connecting reinforcing steel, deck reinforcement, and equipment. Above-ground pools often have less extensive bonding because the metal pool structure itself provides much of the required bonding. Metal pool walls and pool structures are bonded to equipment and to grounding, with bonding extensions to nearby metal components as required. We assess specific above-ground pool installations to apply the right bonding approach for each situation.
Equipment installations for above-ground pools follow similar principles to in-ground pool equipment but often involve smaller equipment sizes and shorter cable runs. The pool pump, filter, heater, and any additional equipment are typically located near the pool itself, often on a small equipment pad. Electrical service to the equipment involves the same code requirements for GFCI protection, dedicated circuits, and proper conductor sizing. Edinson Electrical handles both above-ground and in-ground pool wiring with attention to the specific requirements of each type. Allentown customers benefit from experienced installations regardless of pool type. The safety provided by code-compliant work supports years of safe pool enjoyment for families.
